We all want to feel good; this is a common feature of all people regardless of age, gender, background and any other factor.
But what are positive emotions and what do they mean? You will find them in the list below:
- Joy = a sense of excitement and happiness that is often experienced as something sudden, because of some positive event.
- Gratitude = a feeling of deepest gratitude for something very simple but also for something very important, often accompanied by humility or even reverence.
- Calmness = a sense of serenity and self-acceptance.
- Interest = a sense of curiosity or charm for something that demands and conquers your attention.
- Hope = feeling optimistic and looking for a positive future.
- Pride = a sense of self-acceptance and pleasure for an achievement, skill or personal attribute.
- Fun = a sense of pleasure, often accompanied by smiles and laughing.
- Inspiration = feeling of commitment, excitement, and motivation arising from a certain stimulus.
- Awe = feeling amazement and wonder when you see something big, spectacular or amazing, that causes a sense of appreciation and respect.
- Altruism = is usually referring to a selfless and generous act towards others, but it can also be the feeling you experience when you help others.
- Satisfaction = a sense of pleasure and joy that you feel when you achieve something or satisfy a need.
- Relief = the feeling of satisfaction you have when an uncertain situation proves to be positive or you avoid a negative result.
- Bonding = emotional attachment to someone (even to a pet), accompanied by sympathy and a sense of enjoyment in their companionship.
- Surprise (the good kind!) = a sense of enjoyment when someone brings you unexpected happiness or a situation goes even better than you hoped.
- Confidence = a feeling that involves a strong sense of self-esteem and self-assurance. It may concern a particular situation / activity or be general.
- Admiration = a feeling of warm acceptance, respect and appreciation for someone or something.
- Excitement = a sense of vitality accompanied by motivation and commitment.
- Euphoria = intense and all-round feeling of joy or happiness, often encountered when something extremely positive and exciting happens.
- Pleasure = a sense of pleasure for a positive experience, a delicious meal, good company etc.
- Optimism = positive expectations that encourage you to look forward to a beautiful future.
- Happiness = general feeling of joy, pleasure and excitement for life.
- Love = perhaps the strongest of all the positive emotions, love is a feeling of deep and lasting affection for someone, along with the willingness to put their needs above ours. It can be addressed to a person, a group of people or even the whole of humanity.
