Goals are dreams with a set deadline.
We set goals by expecting a new beginning. A new beginning can be signaled by an opportunity, such as a birthday or a time milestone, like the first day of the month.
We use the beginning of a new week, month or year as an indicator to leave past behaviors behind us. These transition points offer us “the freedom to become a new, better version of ourselves”. However, in order to increase the chances of achieving our goals, it is advisable to follow the steps below:
-Retrospection: It is very important to know where we are now. Essentially, we need to look at the past from the position we are now and to distinct what worked well and what didn’t.
-Clearing: The next step is to let go of what does not work. This may include behaviors, habits, or even people. Many times, we fall into the trap to implement our plan strictly, so we do not have the energy reserves to respond effectively to everything.
-Introspection: We must be ready to support our new choices, we need to recognize and rely on our values and our core wishes ("When do I really feel happy?", "What goals will help me grow and empower me?'').
-Prioritization: A prerequisite for prioritizing is the prioritization of our goals. Organization, is the key to this process. However, new needs may arise. Thus, we need to adjust the data based on how urgent and how important something is.
-Support: Finally, a part that should not be neglected is the search for help when we need it. The important people in our lives can support the process of achieving our goals. All we need to do is ask for the assistance of the people we trust and do the same for them in return, if needed.
