Η κατανάλωση φρούτων και λαχανικών και η άσκηση μπορούν να μας κάνουν πιο ευτυχισμένους
New research from the Universities of Kent and Reading suggests that eating fruits and vegetables and exercising can increase happiness levels.
While the link between lifestyle and well-being has been documented in the past and is widely used in public health campaigns to encourage healthy eating and exercise, new findings published in the Journal of Happiness Studies show that adopting a lifestyle that provides long term, indirect benefits - instead of choices that bring immediate satisfaction-, lead to a happier life.
Researchers Dr. Adelina Gschwandtner (University of Kent), Dr. Sarah Jewell, and Professor Uma Kambhampati (University of Reading) used a variable approach to examine how retarded satisfaction and choices in everyday life could affect happiness of a person. As it tured out, eating fruits and vegetables and exercising contribute to happiness in the long term.
Regular exercise and a healthy diet may not offer as much immediate satisfaction as other options, but they are more beneficial to our happiness in the long term and on a consistent basis.
An interesting fact is that according to research data, men seem to exercise more and women eat more fruits and vegetables.
According to the researchers, "In recent years there has been a shift towards healthier lifestyle choices. The realization that eating more fruits and vegetables and exercising can increase happiness levels and improve health is an important development. "... If a better lifestyle not only makes us healthier but also happier, then the benefit is twofold."
