Emotional or logical decision making?

People often have difficulty in making decisions. However, we are asked to make up our minds on a variety of topics; from what should we have for lunch, to more important ones or even life-changing, such as what we should study or whom we should marry.

Some people tend to postpone coming to a decision by constantly requesting more information on the topic or seeking the advice of others. Other people, leave it up to luck. So, what leads us to a decision eventually?

Plato had said that the soul is a chariot pulled by two winged horses and a charioteer. The charioteer represents logic, the one horse, emotion and the other, desire. As emotion and desire run affront, logic is what keeps them in balance.

Based on this point of view, our life choices are based on logic, emotion and desire. For our life chariot to be stable, all three need to be balanced.
