Decision making is the choice between two or more ways of action.
In problem-solving, decision-making involves the selection of a course of action from among two or more possible alternatives in order to arrive at a solution for a given problem.
Decisions can be made based on intuition, logic or a combination of the two.
Intuition
Although, people consider intuition to be a paraphysical sensation, in reality it is a combination of past experience and personal values. It is worth taking intuition into account, because it reflects our view of life. Of course, this view isn’t always objective, but is usually based on our perception of realty. Thus, examine your intuition carefully and try to decode what it has to tell you regarding a decision about to be made.
Logic
Logic is based on events; it is a reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.
Logic often ignores the emotional aspect of a decision.
Intuition can be used to make quick or unimportant decisions, while a combination of logic and intuition can be taken into account for more complex and important decision-making processes.
It is important to guard yourself against impulsiveness.
As we can see, decision can be divided into two categories; planned and unplanned. Planned decision are often based on logic, past experience, deductive reasoning and analysis and appraisal of arguments. Unplanned decisions that we have to make instantaneously, are often based on the emotional part of the brain.
