The exercise below will help you start practicing self-gratitude.
Step one: Make a list of 10 things you love or admire in yourself. These could be personality traits, physical characteristics, achievements, relationships, etc. Then, think of each carefully and gratify yourself for each and every positive feature on your list. Revisit the list every time you or someone else attempts to underestimate you.
If you find difficulty in spotting your positive features, think of how much you would appreciate these in someone else. Frequently, it's easier to give praise to other people than to ourselves.
Step two: Once you've experienced the joy of self-gratitude it's time to spread it around. Choose one person per day and express your gratitude towards them; praise a colleague for a job well done, your partner 4 the joy of waking up beside them, give a compliment to the neighbor who you happen to meet at the elevator.
After a week evaluate your mood.
