Relaxation exercise

Find free time and choose a quiet place where no one is going to bother you and the lighting is dim.

Sit someplace comfortable or lie down.

Close your eyes and take 2 deep breaths that you can feel in your stomach area. Let go, feel your body relaxing; your whole body, head to toe.

Once you are relaxed, draw a mental picture that makes you feel happy/peaceful. Give it color, movement, sound; make it come alive. It doesn’t matter if the picture refers to the past, the present or the future. All that matters is that it creates positive emotions.

Hold onto the picture a little longer. It’s a gift that makes you happy and calm. A little treasure. Save it in your treasure box. You will know it will be there when you need it again. That’s the beauty of treasures; they never lose their value.

Take 2 slow, deep breaths. Slowly open your eyes. Feel your body relaxed and calm. Notice how steady your breathing is. Now you can open your eyes. Slowly get up, stretch and feel your body string and relaxed.
